Safety campaign secures improvements to A1

Cllr Jacquie Bell, Liberal Democrat representative for Dunbar & District has campaigned for many years to improve safety on the A1 and her efforts have finally been rewarded. Jacquie is delighted to report that improvements have now been made at Thistley Cross and Spott Road roundabouts.

Jacquie said, "This section of the A1 has been an accident blackspot for years and i am thrilled that we have managed to secure road improvements which will dramatically reduce the risk to motorists. However, i think much work is still needed on our roads after years of neglect by the previous Labour administration."

She added, "My Council colleagues and I have passed a budget that sets aside new money for old roads. The relevant transport authorities have been made aware of the work which is urgently needed and i will continue to push for these improvements to be made as soon as possible."
