Lyon criticises SNP's "poverty of ambition" over Europe

George Lyon

George Lyon, Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the EU, has dismissed the SNP's claims that Europe is 'right at the very heart' of the Scottish Government's international ambitions for Scotland.

The Scottish Government has announced that a Scottish Government lawyer will be based in its Brussels office from September this year to 'enhance Scottish engagement on EU matters, especially in the Justice field'.

Commenting, Mr Lyon said, "Kenny MacAskill's claim that Europe is 'right at the very heart' of the Scottish Government's international ambitions for Scotland is laughable.

"The reality of this lofty ambition is one extra lawyer in Brussels. This strikes me as a poverty of ambition by the SNP Government."
