Amy Rodger for East LothianYour local Liberal Democrat candidate
Amy Rodger is your local Liberal Democrat candidate for the East Lothian Westminster constituency. Only the Liberal Democrats can beat Labour at the next General Election, putting an end to years of neglect under the current Labour MP. Amy has a strong track record of campaigning on issues such as post office closures and affordable housing and is fighting hard to ensure East Lothian is no longer taken for granted. See why only Amy can beat Labour in East Lothian. Amy's priorities for East Lothian...Police not Plastic - Labour's plans to force people into getting compulsory identity cards are expensive and ineffective. The money allocated for this project should be used for more police and better intelligence services, a far more effective way to tackle crime. A fairer deal for pensioners - too many older people still face a life in poverty, almost 10 years into this Labour Government. The mass means testing of pensioners is insulting to older people and has a poor take up rate as a result. Pensioners need and deserve a proper increase in the state pension, linked to the growth in average earnings. Respect for international law - The UK Government seems to have learnt little from their disastrous involvement in the illegal war in Iraq. International institutions like the UN needs to be reformed and strengthened. International law needs to be respected by all countries, whether in the middle east or the west.
